You give me THIS for Edward? Really?

While I realize that Twilight might not be everyone's cup of tea, I enjoyed it immensely. Ever since I got sucked into the series this summer, I have been dreaming of the perfection that is Edward being played out on the big screen. Bridget first alerted me to this breaking news, and I had to have a debate of my own. Robert Pattinson has been cast as Edward (you may know him as Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter).

What do we think?
I have to say that as of right now, I'm not feeling it. I have no doubt that a good make-up artist, several thousand hours in the gym, and a brow wax would help, but I did picture Edward a bit more dashing than this Mr. Patterson. I will reserve the final judgement to when I see him in the movie, but I am cautiously disappointed myself.

For Bella, they have cast Kristen Stewart (who is the Meg Ryan lookalike in In the Land of Women). Here's hoping she's less annoying onscreen than Bella was in the book. I so wanted to drop-kick that girl until she got some sense knocked into her stupid head.
So what do you think?

And yes, I know these are teen books.

And no, I don't care.

I liked 'em.

Discuss.

He has that sharp angular jaw I always picture. I think he has some good possibility.

I never imagine Bella (somehow, the descriptions of her just don't take me in like the descriptions of the Cullens).

I'm not feeling it either. But maybe with the right lighting and make-up? Bella should be prettier.

I'm actually OK with Bella. I pictured her dark but they could pull that off.
However, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not feeling the Edward. Really. If that's who they use I'm not sure I will see it. It would ruin it for me. I'm in love with the book Edward and could never drool over that guy so it would kill any future books for me. I am tres disappointed. Thanks for the bummer. :)

As I said on my blog, I am not feeling it either. But I have faith in the miracle of Hollywood. I think with lighting, makeup and special effects, they can make him look good. I will definitely still be seeing it. But the jury is out on whether he will make or break the movie.

We just had book group last night to discuss Twilight. (We had to do it when our new member brought a book we had already done. I was the only one in the group who had yet to read it.) Well, I think I may have gotten myself kicked out of the group for saying that I think Edward is a little creepy. I don't mean Vampire creepy, he is just...creepy. Sorry. I know. I think I am the only woman in America who think so. So, apparently there is something wrong with me. Edward just doesn't do it for me.

And as for the movie Edward. That is so very close to how I imagined him.

I'll miss you if you all decide to quit reading my blog now.

I think that he has the right face for it-strong lines, but you are right...he needs about a thousand hours in the gym to be buff enough.

In the picture of her that you put up, I don't feel it. She doesn't look like Bella to me, but we shall see.

I am almost done with book 2, and I am hooked. But, I don't think that Hollywood will do it any justice.

I just want to see how they're going to do the sparkly skin. I hope it's as cool as it is in my mind.

For weeks after reading these books, Devon and I would sit and watch people (while in a restaurant or whatever) and would discuss who we thought did or did not look like a vampire. I have to say that this is not what I envisioned Edward to look like...he is just not dreamy enough...he's definitely missing something. However, Bella is pretty much a match. Have they casted Jacob yet? Most everyone I know is rooting for Edward, but there is a large part of me that really wants her to end up with Jacob. Am I crazy?

FYI: I am a friend of Jessica's and a fellow Missourian (the other side of the state in KC).

He will make a good Edward.
She will make a good Bella. (Hopefully she will be drop kicked. I am not a Bella fan either.)

I do not have nearly enough space to write all that needs to be said about the Twilight series.

This Edward is a girly-man.

He's the equivalent of the new P&P's Darcy, who looked like he had a runny nose the entire movie, but don't get me started.

I don't think I'm going to be able to feel the vibe with Girly-Man as Edward.

I had another friend that did a post about this and he was WAY hotter in her picture, so I have hope.

And Bella needs to be dark...I always picture her like the author.

i read it, it was ok, i'd say entertaining, didn't read the next one, just the first - i had a hard time taking seriously teenagers in high school taking their relationship so seriously. you'll understand when your kids are teenagers, trust me.

At least they won't have to try to hard to make him up as a vampire, since he obviously already is one.

my college-age sisters will be SOOOOO excited. they thought that cedric was SUCH a hunk. (me, not so much. but i am not 15, so that may explain it...)

I LOVE these books. Read all three in six days. Couldn't bear to put them down. Anyway...that is not Edward. I am disappointed as well. The girl will do fine, but Edward is described as a much more "perfect" looking person.
BTW....my friend is cousins with the writer. Book #4 will come out early fall next year!

I'm in the middle of the first book, I'll have to hold off on any opinion until I finish. But so far, he does not meet my expectations of what this Edward character should look like.

K. One of your commenters just ruined it for me. I have only read Twilight. Sigh. Does this mean I should just stop? It's okay though. I still like them anyway.

This is close to what I pictured Edward looking like, but he needs to be more buff and Bella? Dead on.

i think he would be ok for edward..i did picture him more handsome...i think she is really cute...but, i did picture dark hair...i do picture jacob as dark, really outdoorsy, handsome...

He is definitely not the dreamy Edward I've pictured. He does look somewhat vampire-like, however...so we'll see. I think Bella's a good match, though. Pretty, but somewhat plain. I'm also interested to see who they cast as Jacob...I was actually really mad when Edward came back into the picture...I love Jacob!

doesn't do it for me! i agree on the eyebrow wax, definately!

i think bella is right on! and she annoys me too!

i must say that i am in the minority and i am not an edward fan, i am pulling for jacob!! kimberly, i am glad to hear that i am not the only one!!

So not feelin' this guy as Edward. Please! Not sure about this bella either but I'm with you a good drop-kick would have done her good! I think they should have used the people from that amazing u-tube Eclipse video. Did you see it? It was perfect!

I agree with Lisa Marie. I loved the book...but somehow Edward always came off a bit feminine to me. I think the casting choices are ok. I trust Hollywood to get it right. I have faith in Tinseltown!!!

Hmmm... that could be Edward if he buffs up a bit. I want to see the other picture that Jessica mentioned.

I don't have a picture of Bella in my head... just a voice... a whiny voice. I vote for a drop-kick, too!

I'm only a couple chapters into the second book so I didn't know Jacob would come into play so heavily. Curious now.

Funny what pedaling said about picturing real teenagers in a serious relationship like Edward & Bella's. I guess that could ruin it. I'm reading it with my own teenage experiences in mind which were OH SO SERIOUS then. Too funny to think about some of the silly teenagers I know now in this type of situation.

I think they shoulda casted Colin Firth. That Darcy is SO dishy.

Unfortunately the man I picture as Edward could never exist because he is just too perfect. As I see more pictures of the cast I feel better about their choices. I guess we will see how it works out when the movie comes out.

Hi, this is robyn, Emily Cairns' daughter.
Oh, I know! I really want to get rid of that stupid casting director!
But anyway, I just did a post about this. Go to
