Question:
What happens when your boys decide to build a fort in the unfinished part of the basement near the air conditioners, and they shove the condensation hoses away from the drain and point them towards the finished part of the house, where carpet, drywall, and other such things reside?
Answer:
A freakin' flood, that's what.
Be back soon, I promise. Just as soon as I finish dealing with the water, the pulled up carpet, the soaking wet drywall, and general clean-up of the area. Oh, and as soon as I decide to let the boys out of their cage again.
They're only still alive because they didn't know what those hoses were for and I can't legally kill them for their ignorance.
Believe me, I wanted to.

I love it when things like that happen...because there just isn't enough to do having to do the laundry, clean, cook, grocery shop and everything else. Glad they keep us busy. LOL Good luck. Maybe I should buy a plane ticket and come help you??? Could be a great excuse to come see ya! Have a great week.
Oh boy or should I say boys! I bet they feel awful. Good luck with the cleanup. Hope there are 2 boys helping you with that.
Nothin like a little water damage to start out your week.
It turns out that in some states it actually is legal to kill children for ignorance. You might want to check into your local laws.
No way.
Time for 5 o'clock bedtime.
I bow down to you and your self-control. I believe there might have been some dead children around my place had it been me.
I'm mad for you. Maybe I'll punish my boys, too...just because. Floods are a beast.
Hope your Tuesday is better, and dry.
oooh, sounds like fun. Only, not. ;) I hope it all just *goes away.*
That stinks!
And... um, could you tell me where you got your cage? I am sure I will need one for my kids before the end of the summer. ;)
Oh, ugh. What a mess. I wish I could come bring some rags and our wet-vac and help you de-wetify your beautiful basement.
And, let me guess. Josh is out of town?
Ugh. My heart goes out to you.
Oh my gosh!! that really sucks, i'm so sorry! I would wanna kill someone!!! Hope nothing is too damaged!
It's a good thing they're cute.
Why oh WHY does crap like that have to happen? Wouldn't life be a lot easier/more fun if it didn't???
I feel some of you pain- had the same thing happen here before, except I was the one who accidentally pulled out the hoses without noticing... and then there was the time the sump pump quit working...
BUT, our basement is not finished, just a toy and box covered floor. Bad as I want to, we may never finish the basement for fear of these things happening again!
Hope the homeowners insurance will help with this one!
Hawaii can't come soon enough, huh?
Oh, I'm getting nervous. My two boys are doing stuff like that NOW and they're little. What will they do when they're bigger and have a third one in their posse?
UGGHH, that's awful. Hopefully you'll be laughing about it years from now??? Okay maybe not. Just trying to be positive... :-)
Ugh! Not fun! Our air handler has a little device that actually shuts off the A/C if water starts to back up. But I guess that wouldn't work if the hoses were pointed out the wrong direction so the sensor doesn't know water is backing up. Hope you got everything cleaned up alright.
Why don't kids just sit in front of the TV and veg for three months like they're supposed to?
Not the kind of thing you want to find on Monday morning...or any morning for that matter.
Good luck with that.
What a Freakin Nightmare! Usually kids burn down their houses after the Fourth playing with matches and fireworks so it could have been worse--but not much. I'm impressed they were actually building a fort. My son only wants to watch tv and play the wii. I would welcome a flood if it would get him off his duff (not really!)
I remember about 34 years ago when a little girl (who shall remain nameless) turned the HOT water on in the bathroom, plugged the drain and then went outside to watch her parents work in the ward. About an hour later, her parents discovered that the bathroom was flooded and the water was running into the basement. When it was all mopped up, the little girl's parents discovered that the hot water had removed the finish from the vanity and curled up the Linoleum against the walls. The little girl's parents decided not to kill her either. Does the little girl realize that what goes around, comes around.
Ohhhhhhh, nooooooooooo.
I am so, so, so, sorry.
*a moment of silence for your basement*
You could plead ignorance for not knowing you can't kill your boys for their ignorance...and go ahead and kill them.
Nah, lucky for them you adore them because they are so funny, smart, handsome and loveable. But, the cage is probably a good idea.
Does that mean no 'late over' with the boys this week? Or would you like to get rid of them...I will remember to lock the unfinished part of the basement!
Oh man!! What a mess! You'll have to update us later when it's not so painful to talk about. I'm sending happy thoughts your way! Can you feel em?
Shall I call you Noah for now on? Hope you are hanging in there!
I can't decide if bear spray or water is worse. Feel free to ship your cage full of kids to our house. We don't have a/c yet. We miss you and are glad your children will have excellent "What I did this summer" papers when they get back to school.
Oooh,...man...Bill reallly "stuck it to you". Were you THAT little girl???? Good for you to realize that they had no idea what they were doing but....BLAST IT ALL! That really would have made me fume from the ears.
Poor boys. Poor you.
Oh man! Good luck with that!
Oh My! I don't even know what to say... except that I hope that in the end things are not as bad as they seem right now. Airing out carpet is never fun... and then having to get it re-laid isn't exactly free. Good luck!
Dude! This is bad. Totally sounds like something their father would have done.
So sorry about the flood but at least they were trying to be constructive... ?
That really sucks, but I still can't get over the fact that you have MORE THAN ONE AIR CONDITIONER! Aren't you high society, now! Do you have 2 refrigerators too? Better call disaster cleanup. Good luck!
Ouch!!!
Poor baby Christie. At least it wasn't raw sewage. Check out my last blog post from about 2 years ago for more on that...

More posts to come...
Whoops, my blog is really called www.danandcindysworld.blogspot.com
I don't even know what my own blog address is...
That hasn't happened around here because my Ryan would simply NEVER recover. EVER. He would really want to sell our children.
Like anyone would buy them.
Oh! When we had the great flooding washing machine caper of 2006... I got new, gorgeous hardwood floors which I LOVE. May you have a similarily happy ending to your sad flood.
Oh brother. The Joy of Boys!!! I'm sorry you had such a disaster at your house, but I loved this post.
