Best. Night. Ever.

Me, pictured here with Oma's new Latin lover, Ender Thomas

Last Saturday, Oma and I headed downtown to attend the Yanni Voices concert. I had very few preconceived notions about this event, but was excited to go, given that I was handed free tickets. I remembered Yanni from the early 90s when one of my college roommates had a CD that would periodically be played around the apartment, and I always found his melodies soothing and peaceful.

All I thought I knew about Yanni changed less than a minute into the show.

SWEET. FANCY. MOSES.

It was absolutely one of the most phenomenal music experiences I've ever had. The 'voices' are artists that have put lyrics to Yanni's compositions. The songs vary; from melodic instrumentals, to Italian-sung perfection by soaring tenor, Nathan Pacheco, as well as Latin beats that got us out of our seats to dance. I was blown away at the sheer, raw talent on the stage; both in the singers and the musicians. It was haunting and sensual; the kind of music that you felt leave its mark on your soul.

I will never forget it.

After the show, we were invited backstage, where we got to meet Chloe, Leslie Mills, and Ender Thomas. They were gracious and charming, and just as beautiful up close as they were on the stage.

Which really isn't fair. I mean, beauty and talent? I must have been totally absorbed in pre-earth reality t.v. when god was handing those things out.

(me, Chloe, and my friend, Maren)

(Me and Leslie Mills)

I have become obsessed with the new Yanni Voices album, and would encourage all of you to get one and do the same.

And if you're lucky enough to have them come to your city, BUY A TICKET, MAN. I'll tell you what, if I could hear this live anytime soon? I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

For your viewing pleasure: I leave you with my new boyfriend, Nathan Pacheco.

Seriously, does it get any more delicious than that?

Don't even think about stealing him. But please, go buy the CD. It's the only way I'll share him with you.

Glad you had a good time. A friend of mine is a good friend of Nathan's and always sets him up with her friends whenever he's in town. It was my turn last Christmas, but I had to go and book an extended trip home and miss his visit. :(

Ooohhhh I am so jealous. It should have been my name you pulled out of the hat. Really. Should. Have. Been. Me. Still love you though.

Wow that was awesome! I'll bet it was amazing! Congrats on being able to go, and with good friends too! What a fun night!

Wow, delicious is right. I will have to check out that CD. My kids will hate me (and you!)

So I don't get why you get Nathan! Didn't you see how he kept looking at me when he sang? Latin Lover was too busy swinging his hair to notice me. He was too self-absorbed.

But you look pretty cute with Leslie Mills. Put on a black slinky number and dance on the piano and I bet Yanni will wiggle his fingers and welcome you to the show.

OK - I am totally crying. Watching that piece made me feel like I was back at the concert. I had NO. IDEA. it would be so incredible. No matter what Josh says... he TOTALLY missed out! I am SO glad my name was on that little piece of paper!

Seriously??! LOVE. IT.

If they ever come to my neck of the woods, I am so there. And you should come with me since it's highly doubtful the husband will appreciate.

That sounds really wonderful! And so great that you could share such a good night with your mother-in-law too!

I'm just so jealous of your hair right now! It does look great! I'm going through my own hair trauma and glad to remember from looking at yours that there is hope for when it grows out. :)

Man, this takes me back to the time that Eric and I went and saw MXPX... got lost finding the venue, they confiscated the pencil I was using to do homework earlier that day, and the mysterious clouds of pot smoke that kept appearing out of nowhere... good times. The best part was convincing Dad that we were going to a 'Christian rock concert' and he thought we were going to a church... yup Dad, it was at a bar. Well, the band members were Christian, and they never used a swear in their lyrics, so I guess it wasn't a lie, right?

have people already told you that this is your best line of the month?: "I must have been totally absorbed in pre-earth reality t.v. when god was handing those things out."

because it was.

You can have Nathan but you better leave your paws off Yanni.

I love your hair and necklace. You look good girl. The hair is looking like Gwyneth and Heidi's LOBs. Long bob. Lovin it. Keep it.

I'm with Jessica--That was your best line. i think I was doing the same thing when a lot of good qualitites like patience and tan skin were being handed out. I have too many bad memories of my dad listening to Yanni to really give them a chance but Nathan is pretty yummy.

I was with you watching "The Real Housewives of Babylon."

My husband got a Yanni CD years ago and I was embarrassed. Then I listened to it and had to admit the guy knows a thing or two about music.

WHatever, whatever....yadda...yaddaa...concert was great...

What I want to comment on is how beautiful you are, your eyes are gorgeous and your teeth are gorgeous. I know, weird. It's from being married to a Dentist and NOT have perfect teeth. But, seriously, you are stunning.

(DId I make your day?)

That was mighty gracious of you to share your new boyfriend, Nathan with all of us...well, I use the word, "share" loosely...I mean we do have to go purchase a CD.

Oma has great taste in men. Her new Latin lover is amazing.

I agree with Jessica. That line about reality TV was hilarious. You, my dear, have beauty and talent. You are an amazing writer and total eye candy.
