Gracias, mine interpeeps

How much do I love the internet today?

So, so much.

You sure do know how to make a girl feel good. Even you lurkers that decided to come out and play. I thank you. From the bottom of my very short-haired heart. I think next time I'm feeling bad about myself, I will whine about it here, and wait for you all to make me feel pretty again. Seriously, thank you. Your kind words meant a lot to me. I am just blown away by all of it.

Now onto other non-hair related things (you mean the world doesn't revolve around my hair? Shocking, but true).

Yesterday was the first day of school. A buzz of energy, the kids got all ready in about six minutes, and then sat around waiting until it was time to go. When the time finally arrived, there was some moaning as they lugged their school supplies to the bus stop, which I was absolutely no help with. I mean, someone had to be snapping pictures, right? Who else will document these milestones?

Once at the bus stop, I forced them to endure the gratuitous, cheesy smile pose that moms everywhere are snapping this time of year. Backpacks on, freshly scrubbed faces, new clothes. Note to self: Must get more creative for next year. I'm thinking headstands on backpacks, human pyramid, flame-thrower in the background. Something.

McKay had a lot more anxiety and nervousness about this year, which surprised me. Poor kid could hardly eat anything for breakfast because his stomach was all in knots. Lucky for him, I ate enough for the two of us. Just trying to keep the universe balanced and all that (or so I'm trying to tell my thighs).

Hannah was definitely the most excited, "Aboutstartingfirstgrade! Ohmygoodness!! I'minfirstgradenow!! I can'tbelieveI'mfinallysogrownup!! I'minfirstgrade!!!" And that's exactly how it sounded all morning, I kid you not.
Chase was hardly nervous at all - telling his usual round of jokes, searching the ground for frogs, and asking how soon it was until lunchtime.

But in the end, only my baby girl looked back.

But only for a second, and then she was gone. Leaving me, my checkbook, my novels, and daytime movies all alone.

Whatever shall I do?

Oh how adorable these cute little kids are on their first day of school.
So how many movies can you watch while they are gone in a day? How many books can you read? Bonbons can you eat? On and the checkbook too? All signs of serious danger; well it would for me anyway!
Still loving your hair. I just had to look at it again!

Ahhhhhhhhh... Actually, it has not been Ahhhhhhhhh for me, and it probably won't be Ahhhhhhhhh for you... You just THINK it will be. Oh, wait, I still have an 18 month old at home... I guess it might be AHHHHHHH for you. Should I congratulate? Or give condolences?

Oh the things you can accomplish with the kids in school. It looks like they are all set to go. Have a great, quiet day!!

I'm so jealous! School doesn't start here for another three weeks - and I only have one in all day! Someday, I'll be left alone with a credit card, books and daytime movies too.

Great pics, BTW! You captured the kids moods perfectly too!

Levi's in first grade this year too. The pic of Hannah looking back is so sweet and so is her hair. You're lucky you have buses! I must drive MY child. Ugh. The parking lot. I could do a whole post about JUST the parking lot.

The first day of school just isn't as climactic as it used to be. I feel bad for Mckay, 'cause nothings worse than being so nervous that you don't want to eat. I guess we should expect a lot more blogs out of you, 'cause I'm sure that without your kids around you are just not going to know what to do with yourself...

I am trying to not be jealous. Not working.
When did Chase get so tall??? Holy cow, that kid has grown!

A week ago I would have said "What're you sniveling about? Your kids are in school all day. You. Have. Arrived."

Problem is, I am going through withdrawals about my daughter being in preschool four mornings a week. Can't wait to see what a mess I'll be when she actually gets into elementary school....

Your kids are the cutest! Taylor started today...new school, new friends, she was nervous, so was I, she was excited, so was I. I pick her up in an hour and I can't wait to hear how it went. Although, I seriously doubt she will give me a play by play recap!

What adorable kids. Our school starts next week, but not excitement from my son.

Your writing is amazing, do you have anything published? I would love to read it. You're kids are adorable. I can't wait until my kids start on Aug. 19th, I'll be posting pics on my blog as well, five days, 11 hours....who's counting until the house is quiet?

After all this time I still can't remember which is older Chase or McKay. They should be twins. But it is fun to see how they are so different.

It is so nice to be back - now that we are.....

I can't believe summer is over and it's school time again! Should I go to Provo so I can take pictures of Michael heading off for his first day? Maybe I will!

Your kids are so darn cute! Enjoy! Have you picked a new book yet?

OK, so I must repent...I didn't comment to you on how cute your hair looks, just to myself. I just skimmed yesterday since my Google Reader was up to 50. But, I love the hair, want to cut mine, hope you enjoy it. I need to send you a flower clip to put in it.

Cute pictures from the first day of school. That will be me next year. Let me know what I should stock-up on for daytime empty nesting.

You lucky girl. I will be sending half of my brood back in six days. Not that I'm looking forward to it or anything.

Oh, and I love the picture of McCay looking like he is nervously contemplating his first day. It reminds me of my oldest.

You are such a good photographer! You take the kind of pictures I would expect to see in magazines. Hannah is so cute! So are your boys, but there's just something about little girls! Enjoy your freedom!

Good Golly, I'm jealous. ALL OF THEM IN SCHOOL, ALL DAY. sigh.

That schoolbus photo is a keeper.

Those pictures are so wonderful. No flame throwers necessary. I love that Hannah looked back...just for a second.

Sorry that McKay was so nervous. It was so good of you to keep the universe in balance, though. ;)

I like the hair, but am very curious what the hairdresser refused to do to it. We have to get together soon.

Great pics!! I hope you enjoy your carefree days. I wish I had more kids like yours in my classes. I love the beginning of school, even as a teacher. There's just something about new school supplies, clothes, & shoes...I just love it!

Seriously, you SHOULD publish some stuff. You have a real talent for catching the right shots in your pics.

Goodbye cute kids with your back packs. We start next week. You are happy, and I can see why. I am sad...NO BUS.

It makes me SOOO sad I didn't get first day pics of Jaxon. I am a bad mommy.

Love the hair cut, by the way. Going short is always hard at first, but I bet you will end up loving it.

When I did it a few years ago, I remember the wierdest part was washing my hair. I kept tring to pull my hair down.

You look great!

I'm singing "Freedom" in my head. In your honor. Lucky!
