God bless refined sugar

Several weeks ago, a reader named Tracy (hi, Tracy! Got a blog yet?) sent me her favorite brownie recipe. And because I like you, internets (and am constantly striving to fatten you up), I am going to share it with you.

Plus, we made and ate two pans of these in one week, so surely it is not fair that I get fatter while you do not.

Here now is what I have dubbed 'Tracy in Iowa's Sell-Your-Soul-to-Satan-For-One Brownies.' May your thighs have mercy on your soul.

Mix up a batch of your favorite fudge brownies. From a box, because surely no one makes brownies from scratch anymore, right?

Bake according to the directions, and allow to cool. When cool, spread with your favorite cream cheese frosting. Mine is the kind in a can because I'm just so lazy homespun like that.

Be sure to lick the knife clean when you are done. This is CRITICAL to the success of the recipe.

Then take 1 cup peanut butter and 2 cups chocolate chips. Melt in the microwave until smooth and creamy (took me less than a minute). Add 3 cups Rice Krispies to chocolate mixture and spread over the cream cheese frosting layer.

I know, right?

Then pop the entire pan into the fridge to speed up the setting process. Heaven forbid one should have to actually wait for them to be ready on their own. THAT would be a sin.

Then hide them from the kids, and be sure to eat at least four. Preferably six. If you eat half the pan, I promise to hold your hand through your next Weight Watchers meeting. If you don't, then I'm not sure we can be friends anymore.

Thanks, Tracy. Send me any more you've got because, clearly, this getting fatter thing seems to be working for me (at least in my neck, anyway).

What? You still here? Get thyself to the kitchen and start baking. Now!

Bam! You know how to kick it up a notch. I'm going to make these for the Mrs.

(Where your troll, Daniel? I thought he would have weighed in on the whole fat neck thing by now.)

These sound yummy!... and they are so healthy too. I'm sure those 3 cups of Rice Krispies offset all of the sugar calories!
Thanks for sharing!

That looks so, so good. I should eat some while I watch the Olympics. Then I feel like a real winner.

Last night I told myself I was swearing off my friend "sugar." Now that I've read this I may have to re-think my decision!

Oh good, I just finished off the last of my chocolate chip cookies and was searching for something new to shovel into my mouth (of which my children received three total; I'm great at monitoring their sugar intake so it does not interefere with mine).

Oh man...I wasn't sold until I got to the chocolate/peanut butter part. THAT is my weakness.

DEEEEEEEEE-LISHUS!!!!! Guess I'll be making these later this week (because I'm too lazy to get up and do it this minute) while the husband is gone AGAIN! I have a recipe I'll have to send you that's even easier than this one and just as...uh..er...healthy.

Evil recipe girl. But truly, you can't use a mix. My homemade recipe makes grown men cry. If you're nice, I'll share. ;)

i gagged while reading this. i am just not a sweets person, and this pushes it over the edge.

give me a deep-fried salt lick any day of the week, however, and i'll be in snacking heaven.

Another decadent variation...marshmallows on top of the warm brownies (instead of cream cheese) until they kind of melt a bit (can put in the oven), then the rest of the stuff. Just in case you are really carbo loading!

What?!?!?!? Boxed brownies? NEVER! Not even worth the calories. This girl makes em from scratch and I would go through all that labor intensity for it, too. Oh man, that looks good,...I can see my $10 for my week at WW will be wasted.

Here is another to try. Press PB cookie dough on the bottom, pour a boxed brownie mix on the top and bake. Then you could add the rice krispie mixture to that, if you wanted. If you were to try what I just told you and it came out great...you can take all the credit. Seriously though, my sis. tried the PB cookie/brownie thing (cuz she didn't have enough of each one separately...) and it was so so so good. I was just guessing that the rice krispie topping would only add to it all. hmmmm?

We are totally trying this! I have tons of rice crispy stacking up in our food reserve.(Cause no one eats them just for cereal) Thanks for the idea!

Oh man! I'm drooling on my keyboard at the very thought of these beauties. I'm not sure the family will enjoy sounds from the kitchen at this time of night. Especially when they wake in the morning to nothing but an empty pan and a sick/fat mom with a big chocolate smile:)

Thanks for sharing!

And knock it off about your neck...at least you have one, my head just sits there on my shoulders, like Shreks.

Even when sharing something as seemingly simple as a recipe you are hilarious!

I loved the, "I know, right?"

Okay...I am off to try this recipe...lick the knife when done spreading the frosting...Okay, got it....I wouldn't want to compromise the success of this recipe.

Oh my heck, Stie! This just might take the edge off the whole "by-the-pool" incident and, undoubtably, will improve my swimsuit bod. Thank you.

Let's be honest, I'll never make these for myself. Can't you hold a contest or something and then let me be the winner and then send me a pan of these for winning? That sounds great!

Made them for FHE tonight. Of course, dinner was whatever I could find last-minute, but you can bet I had all my ingredients lined up and enough time to make these.

They are good, very rich, and awesome with a glass of milk. Thanks a lot.
