The Giving Stie

My favorite place to curl up in the warmth of the afternoon sun with a good book:
And the good book I'm currently reading unable to put down:
Oh, the sacrifices one makes on a Sunday, staying home with a [yes, still!] sick child. Oh, but I'd have gladly let The Husband take my place if he didn't have that darn Sunday School class to teach.

Honestly, I would have.

But, alas, duty calls and I must do my part. I'm just a good woman like that.

I LOVED that book! Frankly, I could not put it down.......I know that it's lengthy but you have to finish it before the Natalie Portman/Scarlet Johanssen movie version appears in theatres...(I think that you have a few weeks?)

I enjoyed that book as well as her other English historical fiction--The Queen's Fool, The Virgin's Lover, etc. I also read a good book along the same lines by another author which was titled Innocent Traitor. Very hard to put those down!

Ahhh yes...Phillippa Gregory. My favorite Gospel Doctrine teacher! She would really make the scriptures come to life, wouldn't she!? Love the comfy spot!

It looks like having a sick child has been good for the blogosphere. Enjoy the book...

So Stie, I'd seen your comments on Jessica's blog, but she has so many people commenting and I don't know most of them.

Then I saw you comment on my sister's blog (Kristin), and I sleuthed around trying to figure out how you knew her too (was it Texas? Minnesota? Provo?) Finally, I asked her, and she said you met through blogging! So that's how that works.

Anyway, I enjoy your blog, very clever. I'm interested in the cookie recipe because the only reason I make cookies is to eat the dough. Kinda like only eating cake for the frosting. I'll let you know what the fam thinks of your cookies.

Also, I read the same book last summer and couldn't put it down. I went on a Phillippa Gregory spree (I read "The Constant Princess" too) and it wasn't nearly as fast-paced. I'm thinking about trying "The Boleyn Inheritance." Let me know what you think when you're finished.

Your house just looks so cozy. How do you like the book? Recommended read? I need to get back into reading. Maybe when the days of remodeling, housekeeping and moving is actually settled down (or non existent :). Hope your little one feels better soon!

You ARE a good woman. Is there no end to the sacrifices you are willing to make for your family?

Yay you. You were so good to take the bullet this time around. {I always think that, if you have to live with the downside of kids' sicknesses, you should definitely get to be the one who benefits on those rare occasions!}

Love that book! Read it years ago. And now there's a movie coming out. I CAN'T WAIT!

OK. Now I have another book to add to my goodreads "to read" section. That sunlight on your couch does look perfect!

Yay for good books! I'm reading The Time Traveller's Wife right now, and I love it so much. :)

Your valentine will be in the mail tomorrow. I hope you like it, as I'm not exactly Mrs. Crafty.

I've been looking for a good book. I'll be on a plane all day today and it would have been so nice to have a new book to read. Oh well....maybe when I get home. Hopefully the sick child gets better soon! Until then, keep a stiff upper lip....it sounds like you're really suffering!

By the way...I checked out the cookie recipe too...I'm gonna have to try your recipe! I don't think I've ever mashed them down like that, but that's the way I like them!

That book is on my ever growing list and it is actually waiting for me on my shelf. I have to climb up out of The Count of Monte Cristo first--and it's soooooo long, but good.

Great spot to read--maybe even with an oatmeal cookie.

Hope Hannah is better today?!??

I love your photo arrangement over your couch, so classic and nice! I'm about to start that book, too. Trying to read it before the movie comes out. Hope your little one is better soon.

Someone else read that book and said it was un-put-down-able.

Love the framed photos, by the way. Gorgeous!

Heidi

PS: Hope she gets well soon - and that the husband is home for a bit now.

It seems like a lot of your blog entries recently have something to do with you and your desire to eat cookies, and sit on your butt...

I'm just sayin...

Oh my goodness I want to take a nap on that couch! I love the frames in the background, too.

You are very selfless to sacrifice like that for your family :D

Could you please do a photo essay of your whole house? Based on the snippet I see I would like to shamelessly copy. Thank you.

PS, Loved that book, read it all the way to Italy and back this summer. Good airplane reading!

I'd like to a shot of your full wall so I can see how you've arranged your pictures, it looks neat. I've been looking for creative ways to display my kids' photos.

Boys & Husband gone? You definately got a little spoiled on Sunday. I will never be alone in my house. I would love to sit and read a book in the warmth of the sun. I need to be your blogging buddy because I crave your wonderful posts. I live vicariously through you. I wish I could eat vicariously through you as well. I could eat all the dough I wanted and you would get the added pounds. A girl can always wish!!!

I am searching for a moment to curl up on the couch with a book. that sounds so so so good. ...isn't it so fun to relax and read??? LOVE IT. Although yesterday Eric went home from church sick and slept all day. I am sick too, but...I just don't have that luxury, I guess. (poor me...I am the martyr).

Truly though, who would take my place so I could be sick??? When I stop to think about that, I just don't have the time to be sick, do I?

Please post about how you read, have OCD, make cookies, take care of your sick child, make charts, exercise, have a pristinely clean house, stay skinny and look beautiful. I've been failing lately at trying to fit it all in. I need some inspiration.
