"I'm just walking like it's a park, without a shirt on"

Yesterday afternoon I was folding the laundry. Movement out in the backyard caught my eye, and I looked up in horror at the sight.

My second born son was roaming the backyard in nothing but a pair of shorts and sneakers. Keep in mind that it was LITERALLY FOUR DEGREES OUTSIDE.

That's right, I said four. Not fourteen. Not forty. FOUR FREAKING DEGREES.

He had the Flipshare video camera in his hand, and was talking to it, filming himself as he went.

I knew immediately what he was doing.

He was living out his own version of Survivorman. My boys are both big fans of the show and have watched and re-watched every episode at least a dozen times. Were I to give the approval, they would immediately be off the grid, living off the land -- no food, no shelter (and no fun, if you ask me).

It boggles the mind. Truly.

Here is our very own Survivorman, Chase. Best part about the video is around 0:59 when he says, "Well, I think I'm going back in. Not because I'm cold, but because I think I might be getting yelled at. Better get it over with."

How well this child knows his mother.

Is it wrong to love this? I love Chase. You can tell it's cold because his skin slowly gets that purple mottled look as his casual, narrated backyard walk progresses.

Give that boy a hug from us. He's definitely Survivorman material in our eyes.

So, could you yell at him with a straight face? I couldn't. What a crazy cute boy you have!

Are you sure he didn't say "I'm walking like it's MARCH without a coat on"?

The worst part of that video for me was the crunching of snow under his feet. I HATE that sound. Sends me over the edge. It's a good reason to live in Texas.

No way!! That is too freakin' funny! As much as I want to show this to my son, who is also a Survivorman in his own world, I will refrain, knowing he would pull out the videocamera and do the same darn thing. ...except for today it's -15* here.

Classic. I know my son will be doing this in days to come. Especially because of the "Heat Miser" video I just posted of him. Hil-ar-ious. :) Glad you posted it, so all of us could laugh at him. :)

Pretty cool ain't it? <-- my favorite line besides I'm going in not cuz I'm cold but to get yelled at.

Do I have this to look forward to in my future?? Ah boys!!! So funny!!

My older 3 love, love, love Survivor Man...and I don't understand it...not even remotely.

Chase is so dang cute. I love around 40 or 41 when he smiled and that awesome dimple is visible to the camera. He is gonna have plenty of girls crazy over him...if he flashes that dimple and blinks those huge eyes they will probably want to even marry him and live off the land, too.

Did he have to drink his own urine? That's the Survivorman technique I've remembered for emergencies. Chase is a gem!

I've watched that 3 times, it's HILARIOUS! No wonder he and Creed get along so well.

Did he say he almost tripped over a rabbit trap he likes to keep in the backyard?

So funny.

SO hilarious.

And mostly, because I have 3 boys the same age.

With survivorman-crushes.

And their mother is ALOT like Chase's mother...

Thanks for the laugh.

I only wish we could have heard you yelling in the background. :)

The video is classic.

I think this will be the highlight of my WEEK. What a stud! (not to mention cutie!)

I (unlike Rochelle) loved the snow crunching in the background. That sound makes me happy.

what is HILARIOUS is how he says "ain't" as if that's a word your family ever really uses. like you're redneck hillbillies. he's just playing the part.

this was fabulous.

Our children must NEVER meet.

That said. Chase is awesome.

Oh couldn't he have kept the video going while you yelled at him? I'm always pleased to know that I'm not the only mama that raises her voice on occassion. I think that would have almost been equally entertaining, almost. Talk about survivorman. What a cute kid!

Oh and by the way I didn't have a chance to comment about your outfits. Think you look great in both but love #2. You look terrific and you'll be rocking the party!

What is wrong with me that makes ME want to do this? I'm a Man Vs. Wild guy myself, and Bear Grylls is my hero.

Tell Chase I'm sending him a giant machete when I'm rich.

H I L A R I O U S !!! I love this kid! Can I please marry him off to my Isabelle?

She'd actually give him a run for his money on Survivorman--she's quite the tomboy :)

xo

p.s. i'm jealous of Holly's Christmas Card. I am respectfully asking to be added to your list.

It's kinda funny when he trips at the end too. That is a great great video to keep for life. He is creative and cute.

Did you already go to the party? I am fully confident that you looked amazing. I like the video that Chase made so much more than the videos I find on our Flip. I think SurvivorMan is great!
