Sisterhood of the Traveling Shoes

Over the weekend, I was the lucky recipient of a most happy package. Not one, but TWO fabulous pairs of shoes (and some chocolate and a magazine, too). This little ditty came courtesy of the chic and hip Diane (whose shoe collection I am sure would give Imelda Marcos a serious run for her money). Diane has had her fair share of bad luck and broken bones over the past few years, and is not able to wear all of the oh-so-pretty shoes she has stashed in her closet.

Can you imagine the horror?

So rather than have those lovelies gathering dust on a shelf, she has generously decided to spread the wealth.

Thus was born her idea for the Sisterhood of the Traveling Shoes. And, lucky me, I am the first sister. I will keep these gorgeous shoes for 30 days, document the places I take them (seen here lounging at the pool) and then will choose someone who will then get them for the next 30 days. And so on and so on, until these pink puppies have traveled the globe. What would thrill me to no end would be seeing these happy shoes on display internationally somewhere.

Aren't they cute?

So leave a comment letting me know whether or not you'd like in on the fun. The shoes are a size 9, but I'd wager you smaller-footed peeps could make them work, too. On October 1st, a new sister will be born.

Let's show these shoes a good time, shall we girls?

Oh my gosh I love it! :)What cute pink goodness.

And... I just happen to be a size 9! :)

Wonderful idea, too bad I have my own personal set of ski's, 10 1/2 beauties that are a hard time to fit.

Oh for hell's sake, what's with the feet? I am so sick of seeing your nasty ole toes...

Ok, so now I just read your post... It sounds to me like a good way to get rid of some ugly shoes that were gifted to you, but you don't want to hurt your friend's feelings... You're brilliant.

To the next wearer of the shoes. www.clorox.com

Hello, I need those shoes to go visit a certain missionary's residence in my town. Perhaps Diane can't be there but her shoes can.

This is going to be great.

Since I have been banned by my sweet and financially responsible husband from buying anymore shoes and I am a size 9 I would be more than happy to take them of your hands (feet) for you for 30 days!!!

What a great idea!!

This is a great idea! I, too am a size 9. I could sure take them out here in North Dakota if you'd like. I even have relatives in Germany that they might be able to travel the globe. Let me know. My email is monikrantz at gmail dot com. :)

Dang. I wear a size 6. I am not thinking I could pull that off.

Can we do a travelling necklace or something? :)

I was a size 9 once... that time I was swollen to the size of a blue whale last winter, right before Maya was born.

Now I'm back in 7s.

How come my feet unswelled and the rest of my darn body didn't!?!?!?

Very cute! If it was still summer I'd be up for the sisterhood...maybe next spring but what a great idea!

I'm just laughing at Dan's comments...for hell's sake...anyway, I'm a size 7, but I'd love to make a size 9 work!

I have been a lucky recipient too many times to count, so my vote is for Ilene. Love the idea of the shoes visiting the missionary.

Or...you could send them to the 7 month prego girl,...who could use something cute about now,...AND whose Utah weather will change quite quickly. I won't cry if you don't send them my way, ...but a pair of pink sandals for the girl getting her first girl would be a fun thing. I even have a nice french pedicure going!

did i miss something? where did this idea gain life? i never knew there was a contest or a sisterhood or any of this. and i'm IN THE SISTERHOOD, for crying out loud.
i must've missed a post.

although it's disgusting to wear other people's shoes, so i don't even want them. but i will carry them around in my purse if i win, just to be a good sport.

and once again, your picture is a little red x. did you switch sites for uploading or something? maybe my filter is blocking.

Go sister friend. I have annoying brothers too. Obviously he knows nothing about fashion and that there is a current trend towards all things feminine and floral. He makes me laugh though. Can't wait to see where they go next.

BTW, I do not have any foot fungus of any kind.

Love the toe ring and tan tootsies.

I think you should send the shoes to Dan's wife. I'm an 8 so I'll just see where the shoes travel.

If only they could stretch and grow to fit everyone in the sisterhood perfectly. Oh, and bring magic and good luck to all those that wear them... That would make a good movie. Start writing...

What a super-fun idea (as long as all the sisters have good foot hygiene!). Too bad I'm a size 6 -- not thinking I could do much in a size 9!

Ohhhhh...those shoes would totally fit me-I am a size 9 thanks to 4 sweet babies! The problem? I might not like the whole pass it on thing-they might just want to stay in my closet! ;)

Those shoes are adorable! How I wish I was a size 9. But alas my feet are not so I wish the shoes well on their travels to another foot. What a terrific idea!!

Oh snap.

I have some great news for you!

My foot is a size 9.

And, West Virginia would love to show those shoes a good time! (And, yes, we DO wear shoes in West Virginia.

They. Are. Fabulous =)

Care to send those darling shoes to the Middle East? I would be happy to tromp them around my part of the world. Qatar could be their new home for the month. It could be a little adventure. Plus, they would look great with one of my new outfits ;)

Christie, I have the shoes now! Just so you know, I linked your blog in my blog post just now. It's fun reading about everyone's adventures so far. What a fun idea to pass them around the blogging world. And...I love your blog! In fact, I was laughing when I went to your most recent post about your kids valentine cards because I just used the same idea, but hadn't blogged about it yet. Yours turned out adorable.
