We heart these Idaho spuds of ours

Hello? Hello? Is there anybody out there?

Yeah, yeah, I know. Pink Floyd, I am not. But I am back and I've got lots to share with you.

Last week, we spent a lovely few days with this beautiful family:

My brother, Craig, and his family came for a little visit. His wife, Laura, is the sister I never got and always wanted. I LOVE her to pieces. She totally gets me. We stayed up until the wee hours chatting, pontificating, You Tubing, and cookie dough eating. Pretty much my four favorite things EVER.

We also took them to some of our favorite St. Louis sites. Like the new Five Guys restaurant, (which we love!), and which really isn't helping me any with the matter of my chubby thighs. They fell in love with it, too. And there's nothing like traveling all the way from Rexburg, Idaho to eat potatoes that are brought in from, yep, Rexburg, Idaho.

Only here in Missouri, we don't actually know how to spell "Rexburg," as you can see.

My children begged and pleaded to be kept home from school, and, good mother that I am, I used that as leverage to get them to do my bidding for an entire day. Nothing like a little motivation, eh?

Heh, heh. Suckers.

Of course, in the end, I let them stay home from school, and we had a blast at the science museum, the zoo, the park, and terrorizing the old people in our neighborhood.

Please come back soon, you Idaho spuds. It was so fun hanging out with you guys.

Plus, I could really use some leverage over these children around here. They seem to have lost their desire to do my bidding.

Stinkers.

Idaho is the best.

Of course I have to say this now I am an Idahoan (excuse me while I take a moment to choke on that sentence).

Ah, my town is getting its own Five Guys soon. I'm glad to know that you and your thighs recommend it.

Looks like a fun time! Glad you're back online. As for the kids, that's tough a day home from school and spending it with cousins ranks pretty high.

It looks like fun! That peacock photo is awesome. A think a day off from school to play sounds like a ton of fun. I may have to plan one of those for us!

I'm sending the truant officer to your house right now. Maybe you can claim that it was an educational day seeing that you caught the misspelling of Rexburg and pointed it out to your kids.

Glad to have you back--looks like you had a great time. And isn't it nice when you have relatives that you know you would have been buddies with anyway, despite the familial requirement--love it.

I feel like it's been even longer since I've seen Craig than it has been that I've seen you. Let's get that family a blog.

Glad you had a fun time. My parents made me go to school when you all came out to visit us in CA 30 years ago or whenever that was. I still resent them for it...jk.

I love 5 guys--I had my first burger there in the airport about a month ago. I didn't know the burgers have double patties unless you order a small. So I did what I had to do and ate the whole dang thing. What a fun visit--I want to come to St. Louis!

I'm glad you had a fun visit.

Craig looks EXACTLY how I remember him...20 years ago, or whenever I last saw him. And his little boy looks EXACTLY like him, too. What a cute family. I've always really liked Laura (the few times I've talked to her.) What a fun little excuse for missing school.

Seems like our weeks were pretty similar - although, I think yours came later so you probably got the good weather. Mine had gone off to other sites when the sun finally shines his rays. Lots of fun. And yes, company is very bad for chubby thighs (or any other chubby body parts)!

I'm headed to Blackfoot after Women's Conference to see family and eat lots of mallo-nuts. Yum.

You are the hostess with the mostess!

How fun. I wish You Tube were around when we lived by each other. We could have watched lots of Jackass videos together.

My kids love when family visit! They usually get out of school too.

I've always thought Craig looked like Jim Carrey. And, yes, that's a compliment.

Gosh, Stie...I don't think I've seen your big brother since your wedding. He looks JUST like your dad! Cute, cute family.
I will call and schedule our summertime visit. We have SERIOUS cookie dough to catch up on!

Oh, man. I would love to have zipped myself into their luggage and came along. What lucky ducks.

And I have to say that Craig and Laura look so familiar to me. I wonder if we are in the same stake? OR, Rexburg is LITTLE. Maybe we shop at Walmart on the same days. Who knows!

Now, I think it si time you make them a visit!

I loved the, "Heh, heh. Suckers."

So nice that you got to see and spend time with your brother's lovely family...and that you and Laura got to do your four favorite things EVER.

I love the fact that they got to eat potatoes from their homeland. You are the most wonderful hostess...providing a taste of home and great company.

the rexburg idaho thing made me laugh! When we lived in Michigan we got "slack" from friend EVERY TIME it said "idaho potatoes" on a menu...

Oh, I adore Laura, too. She is one amazing woman. It looks like it was a great weekend. I have to be careful that I don't pull up your blog around my kids, because then they get all "I wanna see our cousins. Mom, call Christie and see if they can come over."

Are Rexburg potatoes anti-aging? I'd sure like to know Craig and Laura's secret. What a great looking family! How fun to have them come for a visit! It has been forever since we've seen them!
