A post! And a giveaway! This is your lucky day...
A few months ago, on one of his many, many business trips, the Husband was seated in (of course) first class next to Mitch Albom.
He recognized the award-winning writer immediately and they started up a conversation. The Husband mentioned to Mitch (can we call him that now? He met the Husband. They're bound to be best friends, right?) that he is a huge fan of his sports writing.
He then added that his wife (me) is a huge fan of Mitch's novels.
Mitch laughed, and said, "I get that a lot."
About a month ago, I was looking for something new to read. I opted for The Time Keeper by (our new best friend) Mitch Albom.
I started it at about eight o'clock in the evening, just as the kids were settling down for the night.
I finished it by about eleven.
With tears streaming down my cheeks, I vowed to share this book with everyone I know.
And, late yesterday afternoon, I finished reading it aloud to my entire family.
It. Is. Phenomenal.
Part-fable, part-It's-a-Wonderful-Life, it is engaging and real. It takes you on a journey that makes you evaluate how you spend your time, and how you value time. It will make you want to make the most of every precious minute you have in this brief life. It reminds you that there is always hope, no matter how bleak things seem.
I loved it. My family loved it.
And in honor of that, I am going to give away one copy to a lucky reader. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite book. All comments will be thrown into random.org and a winner drawn on Wednesday, October 24th at 8 p.m. local time.
If you don't win, buy the book anyway. It's worth every penny.

I can't think of my overall favorite, but my favorite read this summer was The Fault in Our Stars.
Tale of Two cities.
I am an Albom fan for sure. How fun that you have a little connection!
It's really difficult to choose. I love so many. My classic go-to is Pride & Prejudice. I'm not actually sure how many times I've read it so it must be my favorite.

I don't know if I'm a legit person to enter the contest as EVERY book I EVER read these days is from your suggestions!!! Perhaps you should copy Ophrah and do a "Christie's Book Club"? Then you can get all the major publishing companies notice on your recommendations so they can print more copies? Hmmmmmm... Count this as my entry into the HAT for the free book :)
One of my very favorite books is The Time Traveler's Wife.
My favorite is Unbreakable...excellent read.
You had me at It's a Wonderful Life! That's my favorite movie.
Oo, random dot org, pick me! Too hard to pick a favorite book but: To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, and Crossing to Safety are books I go back to over and over.
I think I have about ten favorite books but Pride and Prejudice is one I can read over and over (and have).
Also I have good luck with your giveaways...don't disappoint me:)
I have so many, but I have found that it's more about the place that I am in at the time I am reading it than the book itself. I am currently reading the new JK Rowling book which is SO NOT harry Potter.
The hubs did get me a gift card for my Kindle, so perhaps I shall look it up.
grapes of Wrath. Usually I hate books written by men (always have, not just since The Divorce), but this one changed my life while reading it. Nothing like Steinbeck country. I think I'll buy this book if I don't win because I've forgotten how to read and maybe it will remind me! I can't comment on blogs because that stupid prove you aren't a robot thing freezes my iphone. Hate it.
Seriously? Favorite book. Oh my. Probably Ender's game (I'm a nerd at heart I suppose) But I also love The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, LOTR, Tess of the D'ubervilles, Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables series...I could go on and on...
And I love your blog, by the way. It is very clever and entertaining, among other things. :)
Hey girl! I know I don't write any more but I still stalk your blog. I am desperate for a new read and hope I'm the lucky winner. :)

I would love this book..Mitch shares the same name as my son and is a great author.
It was fun to see so many of my favorites already mentioned in the comments. I have no idea what I'd choose as my #1, but I got some ideas for new reads as I looked through. I just reserved this from my library and I'm number 35 on the list so I'm hoping I win!! :) (We'll be in your corner of the world tomorrow night. Taking the family to see Les Mis at the Fox. Can't wait!!)

Fave book: These Is My Words and about 100 others.

The Count of Monte Cristo, pleaseandthankyou.
But also, the Harry Potter series holds a special place in my heart since that's what got me started reading.
Right now I'm enjoying Anna Karenina.
Started reading it today... it's really fantastic. The whole concept is so intriguing to me.
It's a toss-up between "Tis" by Frank McCourt, "Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs" by Chuck Klosterman, and any book where I'm looking for Waldo. That scamp.
