Oh, you'd better believe he's in the doghouse for this one

Remember the awesomeness that was the mohawks? You know, the ones that after four years I have finally embraced?

Well.

Somebody decided that we were done with them for this year and took the scissors to my poor boy's head:

No, it was not McKay, as you can see in this terribly out of focus picture. [Sorry. I was in a hurry.]

It was definitely not Chase or Hannah. Not even our cousin Emmie, who is fond of playing barbershop on her own bangs from time to time, committed this travesty. It was not the two-year-old boy who lives down the street.

Though we would expect such behavior out of him.

IT. WAS. THE. HUSBAND.

As you can see, he took the scissors to my little Mack's head, chopping to the scalp in some spots. One would THINK that a grown man would not attempt such a juvenile, foolish, and insensible act of vandalism.

The tragedy in all of this is the damage was unfixable by the barber. Not even the fine specimens one finds at the local Super Cuts could fix what the Husband had done.

So sadly, for the next month or two, this is what my darling boy will look like:

And believe me when I tell you, the angry look on McKay's face is mirrored exactly by my own.

The one bright spot in this bleak storm of blinding rage was Chase's comment to McKay. He said, "Don't worry, Mack. It takes confidence to wear a buzz. You'll see. You'll feel great by the time it grows back in."

Unfortunately, that will be long before I'm ready to forgive the Husband.

P.S. Have you seen my other blog lately? There are some amazing sessions for your viewing pleasure. Stop by and take a peek.

Oh, sadness! Always use a professional. ;) I'm betting your husband wont make that mistake again!

It is time that someone addressed the elephant in the room...

...has The Husband been drinking, Stie? You can tell us...

I love Chase's comment of encouragement to him. That's brotherly love, right there...

Mouth hits the floor. He is not happy. What was your husband thinking?

Normally I'd stay impartial on these matters, but I think the doghouse may be too good for the husband. I'd hide the scissors from your son... and tell the hubby to sleep with one eye open.

Oh he so does not look happy. What prompted you husband to do this?

I agree with Julianna, hide the scissors!!

Why? Why?? Why??? I loved the 'hawk.

So...was this a sneak attack while McKay was asleep or what? At least his head is perfectly shaped.

I swear I would have left what the husband had done, waited for it to grow just by a bit and then gotten a professional cut.

BUT this is cool. Good for the summer and like Chase says, great for his confidence levels!

oh dear lord! *cringe* clipper is better and you can ask your hubby to view the vdos on how to cut hair on youtube but i'm guessing you will not let your hubby get anywhere close to your kids' heads for a while. hope mckay is more forgiving.....sorry don't know what else to write - comfort related coz i feel bad too.

You handled the unveiling like a pro! Good thing the husband gave you a heads up so you could be prepared. Darling McKay...he was so good about it! Husbands....... Oh, and that is SOOOOOOO something mine would do. Then again, I did marry the blonde version of yours!

Christie, I had the biggest chuckle over this post! Cracked me up hilariously for a long time! I have certainly had my fair share of scissor moments and also haircut catastrophes with the kids and hubby! But to think that Josh did that was cracking me up beyond belief! Well, I think you are handling yourself well! You seemed so composed as you wrote! :))) I cannot believe our girls are 8 either! Are you coming out here anytime soon?

Wha? Why? What on earth was your hubby thinking? I mean, I'm sure you still love him and all, but I would be livid just like you. But hey, McKay still looks as handsome as ever.

And actually... my husband tried to trim Levi's hair once and it ended up being a totally close buzz so I suppose all husbands think they can handle it on their own now and then. Let's hope for your sake and mine that it only takes ONE lesson...

My husband did the same thing to my 2 year old the week before I had #3...I was a mess. People kept giving me sad looks like he was a chemo patient.

I did eventually forgive my husband, but it took awhile. Jewelry helps.
